Please note the following:
·9:00 a.m. – Doors open for seating in the Learning Center Main Hall
·9:00 a.m. – Seniors need to report to Early College
·10:00 a.m. – Early College High School Graduation begins.
The following items will not be allowed in the Mimbres Valley Learning Center:
o Air horns/noise makers
o Large signs / posters
o Fat heads
o Weapons of any kind
o No food or outside drinks
Deming High School Graduation – Class of 2022
Deming High School Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2022 will be held on May 20, 2022 at Memorial Football Stadium. There are currently no restrictions but this is subject to change based on New Mexico Public Education Department guidelines and regulations. The graduation ceremony will also be available on the CATS Network -https://youtu.be/03qwglNyfEg
Please note the following reminders:
·5:45 p.m. – Gates open to Memorial Football Field
·6:00 p.m. Seniors need to report to the Auditorium
·7:00 p.m. – Deming High School Graduation begins.

Online School Registration is Open May 2, 2022 for the 2022-2023 School Year PreK, Kinder, and New Students
Online registration is open, beginning Monday, May 2, 2022, for PreK, Kinder, and new students to the district. The registration website link is available on the Deming Public Schools website www.demingps.org, under Registration. We encourage families to look at the site to become acquainted with the required information and documents needed, to complete online registration successfully. All new elementary students are required to register at their boundary school, based on the student’s current address. Please visit www.demingps.org and choose “Registration” at the top, select “Find My School” on the left hand links to determine which school is your boundary school.
Parents/guardians are not required to re-register their student online if they attended grades K-12 at Deming Public Schools for the 21-22 school year. Students in PreK must register for Kindergarten. Student returning to PreK must register as well.
If parents/guardians would like to request enrollment at an elementary school outside of their boundary zone, a 501 form must be submitted. After registration is completed at the student’s boundary school, the 501 form should be requested from the boundary school to be completed by the parent/guardian. All new 501 forms will be on hold until the start of the 22-23 SY school year as the district examines available space across all school sites.
All currently enrolled student transfers will need to complete a renewal 501 request. Current 501 transfers on file will be approved for the 22-23 SY. Renewal notifications will be sent out Monday, May 2, 2022.
Please note, transfer requests for Bataan Elementary will not be accepted as Bataan Elementary is at full capacity with current boundary student projections. Students currently attending Bataan on a 501 transfer request will need to complete a renewal 501 request. Only current 501 transfers on file for Bataan will be approved for the 22-23 SY.
After the parent/guardian has registered their student online, verification of documents can occur anytime between Monday, May 2, 2022 and the end of school Friday, May 27, 2022. Parents/guardians may visit their boundary school from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for document verification. Parents/guardians will need to provide the following documents when visiting the school:
- Student birth certificate
- Parent/guardian identification
- Proof of address
- Up to date vaccination records

Families in need of assistance with technology or other supports to register, may visit their boundary school on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for assistance. Other in person support times may be scheduled by calling the boundary school to arrange an appointment.
Substitutes: We Need You!
Deming Public Schools is hiring substitute teachers. “Substitutes are critical to our schools and ensure student learning can continue. To stabilize our workforce and attract substitutes, we have changed the pay structure.” said Superintendent, Vicki Chávez “Come share your knowledge and invest in our kids!”
·Substitutes will receive $300 after working 10 full days for Deming Public Schools. This is a one-time incentive.
·Class I and Class II Substitutes who substitute in teaching positions on Mondays and/or Fridays from 9/20/2021 – 12/3/2021 will be paid $125 for those days. The substitute must work a full day in a teaching position(s).
·New substitutes hired on or after 7/28/2021 will receive $315 for attending orientation training and completing required observation days. Returning substitutes hired on or after 7/28/2021 will also be paid for attending orientation training.

New Mexico Youth Forward Survey
Stakeholder feedback is so important right now.
The Public Education Department wants to hear from you. Our 2022 Youth Forward Survey was launched recently to collect feedback from all of our classroom educators, parents, and students.
Your feedback will help us paint a more complete picture of what our students need now, beyond just what their test scores say. We will use this information to make more holistic and equitable decisions for our students, and the families and staff who support them.
